FLIGHTBEACON

The flightbeacon™ technology offers a new solution to calibrate rhothor™ deflection heads. It is based on a measuring plate, that can measure all errors introduced by the deflection head, optical path, lenses, barrel/pincushion, ...

When the deflection system is used in conjunction with a table, the calibration tool can correct errors in a way that the axes of the table will be parallel with the axes of the deflection system. This is necessary to ensure accuracy in multi scanfield applications.

The measuring process is done by using the laser to scan in focus over the measuring holes. After this process is finished, the rhothor™ deflection head uses the collected measuring data to calculate the correction polynomials. These correction coefficients are stored inside the deflection head, which means that correction table calculations are no longer needed. The deflection head corrects all errors.

The measuring plate is an USB device and can be controlled through the rhothor™ interface DLLs. The flightbeacon™ hardware comes with an open source example making it easy to integrate automated calibration into software environments.
